Ron Uhrick, 77, a long time resident of Morgan County, passed away Sunday, April 10,2016.
He was born in Denver, Co, August 19, 1938, the son of Lydia and George Uhrick. Ron attended school in Ft. Morgan, graduating in 1957. He was active in sports, 4-H, FFA, and the Morgan High Singers. He was confirmed in the Christ Congregational Church in Ft. Morgan.
Upon graduation, Ron enlisted in the Marine Corp. His unit trained with the Navy Seals and Ron was an underwater demolition expert. He served as a Personal Aide to three Admirals. He was honorably discharged in 1961.
Ron remained in California for several years where he joined the Operating Engineer #12 and worked as a production supervisor for a construction company. In his spare time Ron rodeoed and was a long time member of the PRCA.
Ron returned to Colorado in 1969 and married Connie Gilliland in Wiggins, September 28, 1969. They made their home and raised their three sons in Wiggins.
Ron spent many of his working years in the oil industry as Rocky Mt. Div. Manager for Bremco Industries and in sales and service at WB Supply. He was active in public life, serving on school accountability committees, town council, Wiggins Little League and served as mayor.
His greatest pride and joy were his three sons. He loved watching them participate in sports, band, and other activities. More than anything, Ron loved seeing his sons develop strong work ethics and become good husbands and fathers.
Ron is survived by his wife, Connie; three sons, Ronnie (Amber) of Falcon, Co, Donny (Jenni) of Wiggins, Co and Ray (Michelle) of Brush, Co; two brothers, Sam of Ft. Morgan, Co. and Ed of Laveen, Az; two brothers-in-law, Marshall (Colleen) Gilliland of Wiggins, Co and Tom Thyne of Ft. Morgan, Co; seven Grandchildren, Cade, Eli, Mollie, Hanna, J.R. (Anna), Tucker and Dakota; and one Great Granddaughter, Callie Grace. His nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard; sister, Patricia Thyne; and two sisters–in-law, Elfriede and Cindy.
There has been cremation with Heer Mortuary in charge of the arrangements. It was Ron's request that there not be any services. The family will hold a Celebration of His Life at a later date.
Ron was cherished, loved, and will be forever missed. Donations in honor of Ron may be made to Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701.
