Ronny D. Hawes, 90, longtime Morgan County resident, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at his home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born October 15, 1930 in Modale, IA to Dean & Arlean Hawes.

On May 27, 1948, Ron married Barbara Carpenter in Council Bluffs, IA.  Shortly after their wedding, Ron & Barbara moved to Morgan County. Ron worked at carpentry, oil field maintenance and at Great Western Sugar Company. They farmed south of Fort Morgan.  Later they purchased Fay Lee Fabrics and operated that for several years.  Ron often said "working is my hobby" and he never knew a stranger as he would greet anyone and everyone.

Ron was faithful to his Creator throughout his life on this earth.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 73 years, Barbara; his children, Dennis (Connie) Hawes; Eldon (Karen) Hawes; Marilynn (Ken) Dalton; & Crystal (Stan) Ramey; 1 sister, Joyce Martens (W. VA); 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Harlynn Hawes and Kevin Hawes; 1 grandson Brent Hawes; and his parents.

A private family service will be held.  The public is invited to join them at 11:00 AM Saturday, April 17, 2021, at Memory Gardens for the interment service.
