Obituary

Rosa Lee Mitchell, 96, former Brush resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at her home in Fort Collins, CO. She was born June 12, 1920, in Albany, MO to Charles & May Roark.

After graduating from Albany High School, Rosa Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwest Missouri State University with a major in Music.

On November 22, 1941, Rosa Lee married Robert Mitchell in Maryville, MO. Thereafter, Rosa Lee taught music in the Monte Vista, Colorado school system for 7 years, while her husband, Bob, was a high school business teacher.

In 1955, the Mitchell family moved to Brush where they resided for 50 years. Rosa Lee taught piano, organ, and vocal lessons in her home and was very involved in her husband's and children's lives as they were growing up.

While living in Brush, Rosa Lee was very active in the Brush United Methodist Church, serving as choir director and pianist.   Additionally, she was an active member of the Brush Music Club, and PEO chapter "T".

Bob & Rosa Lee moved to Fort Collins after Bob retired from teaching at Brush School District in order to be closer to family.

Survivors include her children, Linda Leinweber (Ken) of Brush; Jon Mitchell (Susan) of Longmont; Jim Mitchell of Fort Collins; and 3 grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her daughter, Nancy.

Memorial gifts can be given to Brush United Methodist Church.

A private graveside service was held in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
