Rose Benzel, 91, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.
She was born November 1, 1924 in Scottsbluff, NE to Alex & Elizabeth Meininger. On January 11, 1948, she married Roy Benzel. Rosie spent all of her married years as a housewife and mother, living in Cheyenne, Torrington, Scottsbluff, and North Platte before settling in Fort Morgan in 1970. Her family, church, and home were most important to her.
Rose is survived by her four daughters, Shirley Wooldridge and husband, Jack of Fort Morgan, Karen Perry and her husband, Mike of Snowhill, NC, Laura Ingmire and her husband, Gary of Brighton, and Jennifer Horton and her husband, Troy of North Platte, NE; six grandchildren, Michelle Tingen and her husband, Brian, Tamara Dreher and her husband, Chris, Jamie Leopold and her husband, Brad, Cody Haney, Taylor Haney, and Dustin Horton; and two great grandchildren, Madison Tingen and Perry Tingen. She is also survived by her brother, Eddie Meininger of Nebraska; and two sisters, Bertha Smith of California and Freida Minch of Nebraska.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Clarence, Joe, and Elmer Meininger; and three sisters, Ruby Davis, Rosie Meininger, and Ruth Johnson; and her husband, Roy Benzel.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 17th at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 318 W. Seventh Ave. in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Fort Morgan.
