Obituary

Rose Eileen Dobbins, 83, of Fort Morgan went home to be with Jesus, Saturday, March 19, 2016 at her home. Rose was born in Tryon, NE on July 26, 1932 to Robert Alfred and Verna May (Priest) Shimmin. She grew up on a ranch near Tryon, NE and graduated from McPherson County High School in 1949. After graduation, Rose taught school for two years at Rural School District #7 in McPherson County, NE, in a one room schoolhouse with a pot bellied stove.

On August 9, 1950 she married the love of her life, Don Dobbins. To this union was born five children, three boys and two girls. As her family was growing, Rose was active as a 4 - H leader and other community organizations. She was the recipient of the " Good Neighbor Award" for this and for making a home for her two nieces, Barbara and Linda Patchin, after their mother, her sister, died.

In May of 1959, Don and Rose bought a small motel in Sidney, NE which they operated for four years. They then bought the Park Terrace Motel in Fort Morgan, CO in 1963 and operated that for seventeen years, including the restaurant several years before selling the property in l980. They retired and moved to Willows, CA where they spent the next twenty years. While there they joined the Faith Bible Church, were baptized and members, until moving back to Fort Morgan in May of 2000 to be near their family. Rose was an active member of Platte Valley Baptist Church in Fort Morgan. She enjoyed tending her flowers, baking cookies and cuddling babies. Rose loved serving others and her home was always a welcome place to be where no one ever left hungry. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rose is survived by three sons, Donald Ray Dobbins and wife Susan, Daryl Dobbins and wife Cyndy, Doug Dobbins and wife Suzanna, two daughters, Deb Korby and husband Tim, and Diane Thomas, all of Fort Morgan and one sister, Jesse Eskew of Caldwell ID.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Don, five brothers, Paul, Alfred, Bruce, Robert and Ben, four sisters, Mattie, Wilma, Dorothy and Mary, and one great grandchild, Zabian Lujan.

There will be visitation on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO.

Funeral Services will be Monday, March 28, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the Platte Valley Baptist Church, 708 Warner St., Fort Morgan, CO.
