Ruby Herrera passed away May 26, 2023 at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. She was Born July 9, 1938 in Costilla, New Mexico to Jose Manuel and Julia (Trujillo) Padilla.

Ruby and her family moved to Brush, CO in 1950. She married Bernardino Herrera in 1956. They had four children together, Bernie, David, Bryan, and Matthew. She was a stay at home mother when her children were young. She then worked in the community that she loved as a nurse aide and various other positions. She graduated from nursing school in 1988 and worked at Ebenezer, Sunset Manor, and Valley View Villa. After she retired from nursing, she worked as a paraprofessional in the Brush Public School System. Ruby's greatest joy in life was being a mother and grandmother to her "hitos". Her entire family could always rely on her as the matriarch of the family.

She is survived by her brother Benito Padilla, sister Genny Loose, brother Gene Padilla, brother Peter Padilla, four sons Bernardino (Norma) Herrera, David Herrera, Bryan Herrera, Matthew (Kaelee) Herrera and fifteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 7 from 4 – 6 PM at Heer Mortuary in Brush. Funeral Service will be Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Heer Mortuary in Brush, followed by interment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
