Ruby E. Lumpkin, 86, passed away early Tuesday, August 13, 2013, at Bonell Good Samaritan Center in Greeley. She was born May 4, 1927, in Ravenna, NE, to Chris & Evangeline Vetter. During WW II, Ruby worked as a telephone operator. Ruby married Everett Lumpkin in Cheyenne, WY, on June 30, 1946. In 1952 the Lumpkin's moved to Brush. While living in Brush the Lumpkin's owned and operated Softone Cleaners and later Lumpkin Flower Shop. Following Everett's passing, Ruby moved to the Denver area to be closer to family and later to Greeley. Survivors include one daughter, Karin Newman, and her husband Dan of Thornton, CO; 2 granddaughters, Bobbi Heitschmidt (Keven) of Vancouver, WA and Buffi Elliott (Shawn) of Greeley; and 4 great grandchildren (Dante & Claire Heitschmidt and Mandi & Maggi Meins). She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett, 1 son, Bob, 1 daughter, Sheryl, 1 Grandson, Bradley, 1 sister and 1 brother. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
