Russell "Rusty" E. Woodward, 85, former Snyder area resident, passed away Friday, March 16, 2012, at the Fort Collins Health Center in Fort Collins, CO. He was born March 5, 1927, in Brush, to Russell & Lorraine Woodward. After graduating from Snyder High School, Rusty joined the US Navy where he served during WW II. After his discharge, Rusty came back to Snyder and worked on the family farm. On December 22, 1948, he married Bertha "Bertie" Hollinger in Snyder. He graduated from Colorado State University and received his ThM from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, TX. Rusty devoted his life to two things – farming and facilitating Bible studies. He was a charter member of the Snyder Bible Church and after moving to Fort Collins, he was a charter member of the Mt. Range Church. Rusty's passion was presenting God's Word every opportunity that he could. Survivors include his wife Bertie of Loveland; 3 daughters, Carolyn McCormick of Long Beach, CA, Nickie Heft of Norwalk, IA, and Sharon O'Hare of Kimball, NE; 3 brothers, John, Lowell, and Eldon all of Snyder, CO; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Donnie and Barton, and his parents. Funeral services will be at the Snyder Bible Church on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at 1:30 PM. Military honors will be presented. The service will conclude at the church. A memorial service will be held at The Crossing, Shields & Horsetooth, in Fort Collins on Thursday, March 22, at 2:00 PM.
