Ruth F. Scott, 94, longtime Brush resident, passed away Friday, July 29, 2016, at the Life Care Center of Greeley. She was born October 12, 1921, in Waverly, Nebraska, to Walter and Mignon Greenwood.
The Greenwood family moved to Brush when Ruth was 3 years old. On June 9, 1943, she married Alan Scott. They lived in the Byers community until moving to Brush in 1963.
She worked at the East Morgan County Library for 14 years until she retired in 1983. After retiring, she wrote about the history of Brush for the Brush News Tribune.
Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church, the East Morgan County Hospital Auxiliary, and Friends of the Library. She served on the boards of the Northeast Colorado Bookmobile and the Brush Museum. While her children were growing up, she led 4-H leader for many years.
She is survived by her four daughters, Lucille Scott of Phoenix, Ellen Miller of Littleton, Lorilee Scott of Greeley and Shirley Scott (James Brubach) of Albuquerque, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her three sisters, El Lauree Culbertson, Ethel Campton and Cinda Lu Campton; and two brothers, Phillip Greenwood and Lynn Greenwood.
A service of remembrance will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the Heer Mortuary in Brush. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the East Morgan County Library.
