RUTH (LAUCK) WEIMER, 87, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. She was born in Denver, CO on June 29, 1922 to David & Amalia (Kress) Lauck. The family included six girls and six boys. When Ruth was six months old, the family moved to Morgan County to farm. She attended school in Hillrose. Ruth married John Weimer on December 29, 1940. Mr. & Mrs. Weimer farmed south of Fort Morgan for many years. Mrs. Weimer was first and always a family woman. She was always doing family activities and projects such as fishing, boating, water skiing, swimming, and rodeoing and raising animals. She took part in 4-H fairs and sporting events and she enjoyed baking, sewing, and flower gardening. She was chosen Master Farm Homemaker in 1967 by the Happy Homemakers Extension Club of which she was one of the organizers in 1946. She was a 4-H Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and an FFA sponsor. Mrs. Weimer was also a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi, a social and cultural sorority. She had served all offices with the sorority and was the last surviving charter member. She was a member of Mary Martha Circle of Christ Congregational Church where she also taught Sunday school for about 16 years. Mrs. Weimer volunteered for the republican party, Fort Morgan Hospital and firemen, and community concerts. Ruth will be remembered in the community as a longtime bowler, and teaching sewing class at Morgan Community College and at Hillcrest and Fremont Apartments. Mrs. Weimer was preceded in death by her husband in 1987; and two sons, Marvin in 2004 and John in 2008. She is survived by two sons, Larry Weimer and his wife Jeri, Leslie Weimer and his wife Sara Lee; her daughter, Evelyn Columbia and her husband Larry, all of Fort Morgan. She is also survived by her brother Ben Lauck of Fort Morgan; two sisters, Elsie Renner of California and Pauline Henderson of Arizona; two daughters-in-law, Phyllis Weimer of Fort Morgan and Kay Weimer of Aiken, SC; nine grandchildren, Beth Hollinsgworth, Carrie Brening, Craig Weimer, Brenda Berg, Laura Baltazar, Stuart Weimer, Melissa King, Shelly Columbia, and Julie Glenn. There are also 16 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 7th at 10:30 AM at the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Memorial gifts may be made to Christ Congregational Church.
