Sally Jane
Poitz
Oct 15, 1937 — Oct 21, 2021
Fort Morgan
Sally Poitz, 84, of Fort Morgan, peacefully passed away the morning of October 21, 2021, at her home with her beloved caretaker and friend Missy Trout by her side.
She was born October 15, 1937, in a log cabin in Ovid, Colorado to Carrie and Dick Miller. During her childhood her parents moved to several places in Colorado, ending up in the Arvada area where she attended most of her school- years. Sally graduated from Arvada High School in 1954.
During her junior year of high school, Sally met her husband Bill, and they were married August 10, 1956, at a small country church in Arvada. After their marriage, Bill had the opportunity to farm with Bill's brother Bob in Fort Morgan, and they moved in January of 1958.
Bill and Sally soon got the opportunity to buy their own farm and they worked side by side raising crops, livestock, and a couple of kids. Sally was Bill's' best hired hand, and she could out work the best of them. After a day in the field, Sally would come home and make her family the most amazing meals. Her specialties were cabbage pockets, any kind of pie, cookies, and her famous cinnamon rolls. She was one-of-a-kind, beautiful inside and out, fun-loving, and one tough cookie. She loved to travel, play cards with her friends, and most of all she loved spending time with her kids, grand kids, and great grand-kids.
In 2018 Sally was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease, even though she had never smoked a day in her life. Sally was always so strong mentally and physically, and it was very frustrating for her when she became restricted from doing the things she loved because she couldn't breathe. She was Bill's nurse during his later years of life, and she gave his care everything she had. After his death in April of this year, she had nothing left and couldn't overcome her physical and mental exhaustion.
Sally is survived by her Son Curt and wife Deb, her daughter Shelly and husband Steve Frasier, her grandchildren: Cole (Amber) Frasier, Cady (Blair) Jess, Callie (Kirk) Crone, Cody (Caitlyn) Poitz. Great Grandchildren: Blakely, Asher, Landree, and Dawsyn Crone, Collyns and Case Frasier, Carson and Layla Poitz, her Sister Ruth (Jim) Morton, her brother Dwayne Miller and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Poitz Farms Shed (20766 County Road 23) on November 27 th at 3:00 pm. Food will be served. The Poitz Memorial Fund has been set up to distribute among Sally's favorite charities.
