Samuel B. Lauck was born February 11, 1919 in Brush, Colorado to Henry Lauck and Susanna Lauck. He grew up in the Brush and Hillrose area farming with his family. He attended the Caldwell School until the 8th grade. He completed his high school education in 1971 when he was awarded his high school diploma. He married Martha J. Weimer on November 10, 1940. He and Martha farmed in Morgan County for 25 years before purchasing Fort Morgan Produce in 1965, which they operated for 27 years. They made many friends in this feed and farm supply store, which was originally a cream and egg buying station. Many of these friendships are still enjoyed today. In earlier years he was active in his church serving as a deacon, trustee and as a Sunday School teacher. He is a former member of the Evening Optimist Club and is a life member of the Elks Club in Fort Morgan. He also enjoyed bowling for many years. He often participated in son David's scout troop activities and outings. He enjoyed both fly and lake fishing and did not need much of an excuse for planning a fishing trip with family and friends. He had an to opportunity to travel to Canada to fish which required a fly-in on a vintage float plane. After their retirement Sam and Martha were able to travel to Utah, Oregon,Washington state and Montana; Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon and New Mexico; Alaska; and across the southern portion of the United States starting in Tucson all the way into Arkansas via Mississippi. He was preceded in death by two infant sons, James and Paul, his parents, brothers John, Henry, Peter and David, and sisters Lydia Foos, Marie Schreiner, Susan Carpenter, Katherine Lauck and Leah Neb. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lauck, son David, daughter Patricia and her husband David Traxler, sister Martha Wessel of Colorado Springs, brothers George of Fort Morgan and Emanuel of Lakewood, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held today from 3-5 pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A Funeral service will be held on Frdiay at 10:30 am at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
