Sammie Lynn Cervantes, 48, former Brush resident, passed away Monday, October 13, 2008, at Sacramento, CA surrounded by her family at home. She was born August 15, 1960, in Brush to Samuel & Elvira Cervantes. Sammie moved to Sacramento in 1980 working with the Bureau of Reclamation. She enjoyed running, was an avid reader and enjoyed working as a seamstress. Survivors include 2 children, Sonny Cervantes of Phoenix, AZ and Erin Whinnery of Boston, MA; her Father, Samuel Cervantes of Pagosa Springs, CO; her Mother, Elvira Cervantes of Denver; 6 sisters, Wezy Cervantes of Pine, CO; Cynthia Cervantes, Ernestine Valdez, and Linda Cervantes all of Denver; Jacqueline Kious of Sacramento, CA; and Julie Young of Jacksonville, MI; 4 brothers, Steven Cervantes of Brighton, Joe Cervantes of Denver, Paul Cervantes of Las Vegas, NV, and Sam Cervantes of Parker, CO; and 1 granddaughter, Taylor, and her former husband, Robert Whinnery. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 1:30 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11:00 – 1:30 at the Heer Mortuary.
