Samuel L. Baughman Jr., 92, longtime area resident, died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. He was born February 13, 1917 in Selden, Kansas to Samuel and Bessie Baughman Sr. Sam moved from Kansas to Colorado in 1928 to a farm in Northeast Colorado. He then moved to Brush in the early 1950's. In 1961 he moved to Loveland and lived there before moving back to Brush in 1993. Sam married Blanche M. Gates on August 2, 1941 in St. Francis, Kansas. She died September 24, 2005. Sam enjoyed woodworking, gardening, traveling and camping. He was a railroad buff and also had a collection of various types of barb wire dating back years and years. Survivors include two sons, Louis Baughman of Loveland and Lester Baughman of Walden, one daughter, Lola Lingo of Northglenn, seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Ralph, Guy and William Baughman and two sisters, Goldie Curtis and Violet Doane. Visitation will be Monday, May 25, 2009 from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Interment Chapel at the Brush Memorial Cemetery in Brush. Memorial Gifts may be made to Activity Department of the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
