Obituary

Sandra Kay Baker, 79, of Brush passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at North Colorado Medical Center surrounded by her family. Sandy was the daughter of Anna and Jacob Becker, she lived in Brush, Snyder and Wiggins most of her life. Three years ago, they moved to Eaton Colorado.

She married Robert Alan Baker on Easter Sunday, March 29, 1970. This is the only time that Easter landed on their anniversary. They shared 53 wonderful years together. They had two daughters, son in-laws, and six grandchildren; Kristine and Ian Schott and their children, Gator Schott, Kora Schott and her husband Lonnie Rickel, and Payton Schott; Rebecca and Eric McCall and their children, Aven and Coen McCall. She loved her family and always enjoyed attending all and every event of her girls and grandchildren.

Sandy worked for the Northeastern Colorado Association of Local Governments, first as a cook in the kitchen for the Meet-n-eat program with her mom, Anna Becker from 1980-1986, and then was the director of the program until 2015 when she retired. She gave everything to her career and to the seniors she supported throughout Northeastern Colorado. After retirement, Sandy and Bob enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. In her younger days, Sandy was an excellent bowler and traveled frequently for competitions. She also enjoyed playing cards, chicken foot, and board games with her friends and family, and according to her grandchildren, she rarely lost a match.

Sandy lived her life with grace and patience. We are all better people for knowing and loving her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her grandparents, Henry and Anna Thiel, and Henry and Catherine Becker; her parents, Anna and Jacob Becker; and brothers, Ronald and Randal Becker. She is survived by her husband, Robert Baker; daughters, Kristine and Rebecca; her son in laws, Ian and Eric; six grandchildren, Gator, Kora, Lonnie, Payton, Aven and Coen; her brothers and sisters in law, Ken and Carol Becker, Dan and Cheryl Becker; sister and brother in law, Barb and Jerry Bass; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
