Sandra Lynn Columbia passed away on November 30, 2024 at the age of 75. Sandy was born in Chillicothe, Missouri on September 3, 1949 to G.I. and Helen Matchett. She attended grade school in Missouri and later moved to Walden, Colorado where she graduated from high school.

Sandy met the love of her life, Robert, in Fort Morgan, and they were married in August of 1969. In June of 1970, they welcomed their son, Aaron. Four years later, their daughter, Karen, was born. Her children were very important to her. Sandy always made sure the family took annual vacations making wonderful memories traveling to places like Disneyland, Las Vegas, Mt. Rushmore, Niagara Falls, and The Alamo to name a few.

Sandy loved all her grandchildren, and she enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit her daughter and some of her grandchildren that lived there. Two of her grandchildren, Sheldon and Sheradon, drove her and Robert to Key West which was a memorable trip for all of them. Sandy always said she wanted to go back someday.  Sandy was exceptionally proud that four of her grandchildren graduated from college; Sheldon, Mandy, Rachel, and Sheradon.

Sandy was known for her unique sense of humor and bluntness. Her family and friends can fondly remember hearing her saying "It is what it is!" But Sandy was most known for her infatuation with flamingos. She loved them so much that her whole apartment was wall to wall pink flamingos. She was even a member of the Flamingo Fanatics Society and was featured on their YouTube channel. When she traveled to Florida, she always had to stop at Sarasota Jungle Gardens to hand feed the flamingos.

Sandy worked a few different jobs but working at Morgan County Department of Human Services was one that she truly enjoyed. She loved helping people that were in need and always treated her clients with respect. Sandy's last job before retiring was dear to her heart. She worked at Columbine School in the lunchroom where she enjoyed seeing the kids and loved having conversations with them.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents G.I. and Helen Matchett, and one infant brother, Michael Wayne Matchett.

Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Columbia, a son and daughter-in-law, Aaron and Lainie Columbia of Wiggins, CO; a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Brian Granberg of Venice, FL;  her grandchildren, Sheldon (Kaelyn) Sees of Venice, FL; Mandy Columbia (Morgan) of Phoenix, AZ; Rachel Columbia (Brandon) of Windsor, CO; Sheradon (Cameron) Trangenstein of Oceanside, CA; Jaide Granberg, and Shayla Granberg both of Venice, FL; and two brothers, Carl Matchett and Marty (Kris) Matchett of Greeley, CO; as well as several dearly loved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Sandy Columbia will be held on Saturday, January 18th at 1:00 PM at Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan.
