Sandra Marie Gutierrez, 53, passed away in the arms of our Lord and was taken to heaven with him on January 7, 2023 at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado.
She was born on March 22, 1969 in Denver, Colorado to Melley Castro and Geronimo Sandobal Jr. She was a Colorado Native living in different places in the state and some places in California. Where they eventually settled in Fort Morgan, Colorado.
She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1987 and continued her education going to college in Greeley and Denver and graduated with her Associate Degree of Applied Science and went back home.
She was a very easy going, fun, passionate, creative, selfless, strong, independent and loveable woman.
She was able to get along with everyone and made friends as she went. Karaoke and dancing was one of her favorite activities as she loved the spotlight on her as she used to perform in competitions as a child. She loved spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Especially when her kids would come and bother her in her room and watch TV with her. True crime and hauntings was one of her favorite types of shows and movies to watch. She loved going camping and being out in nature while listening to music. Holidays were her favorite time of year, especially Halloween when she would dress up in spooky and make spooky delights and invite her kids, grandchildren, nieces and nephews over. She loved trying out new things like making a recipe from scratch or going out and exploring new places like the Pow Wow. She loved to spend time with her parents and siblings. She worked at the Health Department as a WIC Educator and helped families in need for over 15 years. Up until her most recent job she worked at the Fort Morgan Library and loved working with the kids and helping create ideas for activities for the kids and would bring home some at home activities for her younger grandkids, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her parents; Melley Castro of Fort Morgan, CO and Geronimo Sandobal Jr. of Sterling, CO. Her grandmothers; Dolores Rivera of Fort Morgan, CO and Manuela Sandobal of Sterling, CO. Her children; Anthony Gutierrez, Nydia Sandobal, Kayana Sandoval, all of Fort Morgan, CO and Noah Serrano of Greeley, CO. Her grandchildren; DeAngelo Gutierrez, Azandra Holguin, Khia Gutierrez, Maximiliano Sandoval, and Kyro Gutierrez all of Fort Morgan, CO. Her siblings; John Sandobal of Kansas City, KS, Jerry Castro, Jose Castro, Ruben Castro Jr., David Castro, all of Fort Morgan, CO, Amanda Sandobal of Aurora, CO, and Miguel Sandobal of Greeley, CO
She will be preceded in death by her grandfathers; Antonio Rivera, and Geronimo Sandobal Senior. Her aunts; Olivia Gutierrez, Anna Avalos, and Carmen Acosta. Her uncles: Fidel Castro, Jamie Gutierrez. Her Cousins; Jose "Joey" Fuentes, and Donna Mendez, Jose "Angel" Salavor. Her nephew; Sergio Aguilar
Sandra will be greatly missed by her family and friends and those who knew her. To honor her a viewing service will be held at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan, CO at 4pm to 6pm on January 18th, 2023. Followed with a recitation of the Holy Rosary after. Her celebration of life will be held at the Life Fellowship Church at 10:30am on January 19th, 2023.
