Sandra Garcia Madigan, age 45, died peacefully at home in Brush, Colorado, on November 10, 2016, of liver disease.

She was born Sandra Olaguez Garcia on August 18, 1971, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Gilberto & Rosalina (Olaguez) Garcia. Her family moved to Brush in 1972 and she graduated from Brush High School in 1989. Sandy won a full scholarship to the Colorado Institute of Art and graduated in 1992. A very talented graphic artist, Sandy lived in Charleston, SC and Pittsburgh, PA before returning to Brush in 2009.

Sandy was a beautiful, vivacious, spirited, fun-loving person who always did things her way. She had countless friends and was passionate about her family and her Yorkshire Terrier, Frankie.

Sandy is survived by her parents, Gilberto and Rosalina Garcia of Brush; brother Gilbert Garcia, sister-in-law Maria, and niece Noelle of Burke, Virginia; fiancé, Bob Held of Fort Morgan; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in the United States and Mexico. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Frankie, who was always by her side.

The rosary in Spanish will be recited on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 4pm at Heer Mortuary Chapel, 222 Cameron St, Brush, CO, 80723. Visitation will be held at Heer Mortuary Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 15 from 4-6pm with the rosary in English at 6pm. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brush. Interment will follow in Brush Memorial Cemetery with a reception to follow at the church.
