Pogorelz
Sep 16, 1955 — Nov 6, 2023
Sandra JoAnne Pogorelz was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on Monday, November 6, 2023, at the age of 68 years old.
Sandra was born to Julie and LeRoy "Red" Scheneman on September 16, 1955, being the middle child of five siblings. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1973. Sandra married her high school sweetheart, Robert Pogorelz on May 7, 1977. They have been married for 46 years. Sandra was a loving and devoted mother to their four children, and Nana to four granddaughters.
Sandra truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; gardening, tending to her flowers, quilting, cheering on the Denver Broncos, watching the wildlife from her sunroom, decorating the house for every season, going to the lake, camping, and spending time with her family. Sandra had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. She was an active member of Christ Congregational Church and enjoyed being a deacon. Sandra loved becoming a grandmother and beamed with joy and happiness watching her grandchildren. She was always the biggest supporter and never missed a special event. Sandra earned two master's degrees in social work and school counseling, where she pursued her passion in the helping profession serving the community for over 35 years. Sandra was known for her kindness and compassion.
She is survived by her husband (Robert Pogorelz), children (Jason Pogorelz, Amy Rizo and Alison Reece), grandchildren (Harper Rizo, Lainey Rizo, Sawyer Reece and Remington Reece), and sons-in-law (Frank Rizo and Brandon Reece). She is preceded in death by her parents (Julie and LeRoy "Red" Scheneman), and daughter (Jocelynn Pogorelz).
A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ Congregational Church at 730 Ensign Street in Fort Morgan, Colorado on November 14th at 11:30am. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Morgan. A reception will be held at the church at the conclusion of the service.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Fort Morgan Hospice for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers or donations, we ask that you take a moment to hug your child, grandchild, friend or spend time outside, for a moment, an hour, or a day. Time waits for no one.
