Secundino Gutierrez, 91, longtime Brush area resident, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 4, 2020, at his home. He was born August 9, 1928, in Edinburg, TX to Loreto & Maria Gutierrez.

On February 17, 1951, Secundino married Ofelia Reyes in Mexico. Secundino and Ofelia moved to Brush in 1949. He worked several jobs in the area which included; farming work, feedlot and retired from the Fort Morgan beef plant. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Morgan County. Secundino truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; chatting with his family & friends, spending time with his grandkids, eating dessert & fruit, along with snacks while watching novelas & movies.  His favorite activity was spending time watching Sunday football (go Broncos) & placing bets usually against the Broncos all while having Sunday cookouts with his family by his side.  He enjoyed sitting outdoors under his pine tree, playing pool, listening to music, dancing, singing, gardening & having a few cold ones.

Survivors include his children, Ernie Gutierrez, Celia Ramirez, Cecilia Hernandez, Felix Gutierrez all of Brush, Gilbert (Sally) Gutierrez of Sterling, CO,  Bertha(Luis) Lomeli of Arlington, TX. Also by 21 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ofelia, 1 son Loreto (Larry), 2 sisters, 3 brothers, and his parents.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 13, 2020, at 1:00 PM at the Harvest Assembly of God, 1012 Eaton Street in Brush. Interment will be at the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Heer Mortuary in Brush on Thursday, March 12, from 6 – 8 PM.
