Shawn Halvorson passed away peacefully November 15, 2022 at Presbyterian St. Luke's medical Center in Denver, CO with his family at his side.  Shawn fought a valiant battle against acute myeloid leukemia since April, when he was first diagnosed. He remained in inpatient care for eight months, in a special unit for bone marrow transplants. He briefly was able to live in a special apartment near the hospital with his daughter, Suzanne as his caretaker.

Shawn was born November 19, 1960, to Dale and Lynette Halvorson in Springfield Minnesota. He was raised in Good Thunder, MN with his four younger brothers. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church and completed grade school at St. Johns. He graduated from Amboy-Good Thunder High School in 1980. Shawn enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps right after high school, and served four years on board different Navy warcraft ships, sailing to many different ports around the world. He was a Beirut – Lebanon veteran, 1983. He had been on a Peace Keeping Mission when the attack occurred on the Marine barracks.  He moved to Fort Morgan after being discharged from the Marine Corps.

Shawn met and married Jody Linker December 28, 1985 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, CO and made their home in Fort Morgan, later moving to the country near Brush. Shawn was well known in the community as a hard worker. He loved working for Schwan's in the late 80's, and won many awards for top sales state wide from the company. He worked for Quality Water years, but moved on, ending up with his favorite job at E-3 in brush, working for the Groom Brothers. Shawn also had a lawn business he did in is spare time. He enjoyed helping people who no longer go do their own lawn work.

Shawn is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jody; son Jared (Lara) and daughter, Suzanne of Brush; grandson, Gunnar Halvorson; brothers, Scott (Deb) Halvorson of Lawrenceburg, KY, Kelly (Letitia) Halvorson, of Good Thunder, MN, Rod (Kim) Halvorson, Kip (Kim) Halvorson, all of Lawrenceburg, Ky; brother-in-law Terry (Cindy) of Hillrose; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale & Lynette; brothers, Lonnie and Glenn Halvorson; and his in-laws, Henry and Barbara Linker.

A memorial service is scheduled for Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brush, CO, followed by Military Honors and inurnment at Brush Memorial Cemetery.
