Shirley Jean Allen ( Horton), age 91, passed away peacefully with family by her side on April 12, 2025, in Brush, Colorado. Born on December 28, 1933, in Portland, Oregon, Shirley lived a vibrant and full life marked by dedication to her family, her work, and the many passions that brought her joy.

Shirley was the proud owner of Blue Girl Moving and Storage in Oceanside, California 1977 to 2018—a business she not only built but embodied. She often said with pride, "I am the Blue Girl," a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and hands-on approach. Her work was more than a career; it was a reflection of her strength, independence, and determination.

Her education came from both high school and the invaluable lessons of life.

Shirley's life was enriched by the love of her family. She is lovingly remembered and survived by her children: Mike Lefever and his wife Ginny of Berthoud, Colorado; Linda Erbes of Gill, Colorado; Tom Lefever and his wife Kelly of Black Forest, Colorado; and Mark Lefever of Larkspur, Colorado, Step-Daughter Donna Adamczak and her husband Brett of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

Grand Children: Travis and Leah Lefever, Brandon and Auhnna Lefever, Shane and Michelle Lefever, Michael and Katie Lefever, Stacie and Kelsey Gallegos, Matthew and Macee Erbes, JP and Holly Lefever, Dylan and Megan Lefever, and Gavin Lefever.  As well as 17 great grandchildren.

She also held close in memory and heart her late son John Lefever.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Don Allen, son John Lefever, parents Harry and Judy Horton,  brother Harry Horton Jr., and her sister Helen Davison.

Shirley found joy in bowling leagues, cooking, riding motorcycles , dancing , playing cards with friends and family, and caring for her beloved Yorkie dogs. Her animals were constant companions who brought warmth to her days. Above all else, she cherished time spent with family.

She attended Brush Methodist Church in Brush, Colorado. Her ever-present smile lit up every room she entered.

Shirley Jean Allen leaves behind a legacy defined by hard work, love for family and animals alike, and an infectious zest for life that touched everyone who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who mourn her passing and inspiration to all who remember her remarkable journey.

A funeral service to honor Shirley's life will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Brush Methodist Church located at 1701 Edmunds St., Brush, Colorado 80908. The service will begin at 10:30 AM and conclude at 12:00 PM. Pastor Sharon Strauss will officiate.
