Shirley Jean Andersen, daughter of Alice and Dee Johnson, was born April 18, 1929 in Padroni, CO. Shirley went home to be with the Lord on January 5th, 2025 at the age of 95, in Fort Collins, CO. Shirley was predeceased by the love of her life, Homer Andersen and her sister, Sally Pate-Holtz. She was survived by her three children Doug Andersen (Marcia)Joan Thompson (Chris), and Ted Andersen (Penni), her 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Shirley's roots were in Colorado (Padroni, Sterling, Brush, and then Fort Collins) and spent 17 of her winters with Homer in Mesa, Arizona.

Over the years, Shirley most enjoyed spending time with her family and her little dog, Ace. She was a long-time member of the PEO Chapter where she enjoyed helping women reach for the stars. Shirley had a love for travel as she and Homer explored many corners of the world including New Zealand, France, Germany, and the Swiss Alps as well as a cruise through the Panama Canal. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling closer to home with an RV camping group. She loved getting to know new people and was a gracious host to many, including three foreign exchange students.

Shirley was a very kind, loving, and generous individual who had many friends near and far but nothing could compare to the heart she had for her children, grand children, and great grandchildren. She leaves a great legacy and will be remembered by many for a long time.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Brush United Methodist Church, in Brush, Colorado, followed by a luncheon reception.  Inurnment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Sterling, Colorado at 2:00 pm.
