Obituary

Shirley Bodaness 84 of Brush CO. passed away Wednesday December 14, 2016, peacefully at her home in Brush.

Born December 16, 1931, in Brush Co. to Jack and Mary Boxer of Brush. Shirley graduated from the Brush public school 1950 and attended CU in Boulder CO.

Shirley and Larry married on June 5, 1955, in the Hebrew Educational Alliance Center, Denver. The couple moved to Brush in 1957 where Larry went to work for the Jack Boxer and Sons Feedlot, so Shirley could stay home with her children, who were her life. In the 1980's, they co-owned the Reward Restaurant, owned Culligan Water Conditioning of Fort Morgan together with their daughter Marti Bodaness. And in the 1980's Shirley and Mona Bodaness started Rocky Mountain Flagging, a women owned business which she continued on until the she passed.

Shirley and Larry loved to entertain and welcomed people into their home on many occasions, such as Passover open houses; 4 th of July luncheons; Hanukkah; and Christmas parties. They were also well known for their holiday displays.

Shirley was very active in the Brush Rodeo for many years. Shirley and Larry became the Grand Marshalls for the July 4, 2013 parade.

Shirley was a lifelong Bronco fan who participated in many Bronco events over the decades! She also was an avid Rockies Baseball fan. Shirley and Larry loved to travel attending out of town football games, bowling events, cruises and casinos.

Shirley is survived by her son, Spencer (Janet) Bodaness of Sterling; three daughters, Mona Bodaness of Parker; Stacie (late Clark) Benjamin of Las Vegas NV; Marti (Bruce) Taylor of North Carolina; Joe (Jeff) Bodaness of Brush; Grandchildren, Mistikay Buchanan, Jacklyn Bodaness, Chase Taylor, Branden Bodaness; and great-grandchildren Tobius and Cheyanne; one sister-in-law Janet Boxer of Denver. Preceding her in death were her husband Larry Bodaness, her parents Jack and Mary Boxer, and her in-laws Abe and Sylvia Bodaness, brother Morten Boxer.

Due to cold weather, services will be held at Feildman's Mortuary Monday December 19, 2016 at 1673 York St., Denver CO 80206 at 9:30am. Following will be graveside services at Rose Hill Cemetery, 6841 East 62 nd Ave. Commerce City CO 80022.

A Memorial service for Shirley will be held at 2pm Thursday December 22, 2016 at the Brush Masonic Lodge, 301 Carson St Brush CO.
