Stanley Leroy Sailsbery, 69, lifelong area resident, died Friday, May 6, 2016 at his home in Weldona.

He was born in Fort Morgan on May 27, 1946 to Bennie & Lucille (Davis) Sailsbery. After graduation from high school, Stan attended college and received his BS Degree in Psychology from Colorado State University. He married Nancy Wright on December 7, 1974.

Stan was a local farmer and rancher for 63 years, beginning his work in agriculture as a young boy. Stan was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan and B.P.O.E Lodge #1143. He served on the board of directors for the Morgan County Cattleman's Association, served on the National CSU Alumni Association, CSU Extension Advisory Committee for 10 years, and was a lobbyist for CARET, on behalf of CSU in Washington, D.C., and he was a fellow of the Colorado Ag Leadership Program. Stan was also a member of the Fort Morgan Airport Advisory Council, and as an avid pilot, was former Commander of the Mile High Squadron of The Civil Air Patrol. Stan was a past member of the late Sundowners Lions Club, and most currently, he was serving as President of the Board for Eagle Point HOA in Vail, CO.

Stan enjoyed flying, and traveling abroad, especially on cruises.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Sailsbery of Weldona; his sons, Wes Sailsbery and wife, KC of Fort Morgan, and Brett Sailsbery and wife, Iris of Abilene, TX; his daughter, Kelly Sailsbery and fiancé, Jeff Castrup of Fort Morgan; his niece, Carolyn Bradshaw and husband, Ken of Redlands, CA; and his six grandchildren, Jarron, JC, Ally, Lizzy, Jett, and Blake.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Barbara McKenzie.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11th from 5 – 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

A funeral service will be Thursday, May 12th at 3:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow immediately in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
