Stella "Carlene" (Horn) Smith went to join her heavenly father on February 6, 2023. Carlene was born on August 8, 1944, in Stephens County Oklahoma to Mart and Estell Horn. When she was a baby, her parents moved to Colorado, where she spent most of her life. Carlene lived on a farm south of Vilas, Colorado until she was fifteen, when her parents and five siblings moved into the town of Vilas where she spent the rest of her teenage years. Carlene was very active in school where she belonged to the pep club and was a cheerleader. In 7 ^th and 8 ^th grade she participated in track, jumping hurdles and running relays, winning several blue ribbons at track meets.

Carlene met and married the love of her life, Tracy Smith on December 20, 1962. They had two children, Crystal (Kristi) Dawn and Justin Dwight. The Smith family lived in Oklahoma for a little bit of time, until they found their home in Brush, Colorado in 1972. While raising her family, Carlene worked various retail jobs, until finding her place with LEI Feed and Seed for 17 years, and then working some time with Brush Livestock of Colorado and running her own cleaning business and weighing silage trucks.

Carlene's hobbies included baking and sewing, but her favorite hobby of all was the homemade Christmas treats and hand-made tea towels for her family. When her grandchildren were little, Charlene spent her days making precious memories with them, including baking cookies, snuggling in to read books and telling the most amazing pretend bedtime stories. These traditions carried on with her great-grandchildren. Carlene cared for her grand and great-grandchildren so much and loved them dearly. She enjoyed attending the movies with her friends.

Preceding Carline in death are her parents, Mart and Estell Horn; her sister Janice; her brothers, Roy, James, Robert, and Boyd Horn; her in-laws, Ernie Smith and George and Jean Hubler; her sister-in-law, Charlotte; and brother-in-law, Jerry Wayne Smith. Carlene is survived by her loving husband Tracy; her daughter Kristi (Cody) Frazier; her son, Justin (Babette Jamison) Smith; sister, Ella Howard; brother, David Horn; sisters-in-law; Virginia Horn and Debbie Horn; sister-in-law, Kathi (Tom) Schultz; brother-in-law, Charlie (Shauna) Smith; grandchildren, Kayla (Kevin) Castrup, Kendra (Reshard) Beverly, Justin (Kim) Smith, Tyler Jamison, Matt Smith, Ashley (Jordan) Wesley, and Jarryd (Jayden) Smith; her great-grandchildren, Kaden, Konrad, Kallie, Brody, Ryleigh, Billy, Drake, Tayte, Temperance, Braxton, Kaison, Kiara, Peyton, Johnny, Ellie, Daxtyn, and Emersyn; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Please join Carlene's family at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 18 ^th at Heer Mortuary in Brush, Colorado at 1:00 pm. A time of fellowship and memories will follow with cookies and coffee at the Carroll Building in Brush.
