Teressa J. Medina, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush. She was born April 2, 1934, in La Junta, CO to Ben & Eleanor Mestas. Teressa graduated from La Junta High School During her working career, Teressa worked as a chef in nursing homes. She moved to Brush when her health began to fail. She was a member of the Catholic Church. Teressa enjoyed cooking, crocheting and embroidery work, working jigsaw puzzles and word puzzles. Her favorite activity was being with people, especially her family. Survivors include her children, Rebecca Hergenrader of Carson City, NV, Steve Banuelos of Parker, CO, Constance Banuelos and Joe Banuelos both of Albuquerque, NM, and Anthony Banuelos of Fort Morgan; 1 sister, Candy Valadez of Lakeland, FL, 3 brothers, Toby Mestas of Whittier, CA, Ralph Mestas of Denver, Johnny Mestas of LaJunta, CO, an Thomas Mestas of Boston, MA; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Medina; 1 sister, Esther; 3 brothers, George, Bobby and Charlie and her parents. A memorial celebration service will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Friday, December 5, 2014, at 2:00 PM. The service will conclude at the mortuary.
