Obituary

Thelma Irene Cook, 88, a lifelong resident of the Goodrich Community, passed away June 8, 2009 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan, CO after a short illness. She was born December 14, 1921 to Charles and Bertha Hunter of Goodrich, CO. She grew up in the area going to the local schools. On June 19, 1955, she married George S. Cook of Goodrich, and enjoyed life at the ranch, feeding baby calves, cooking, gardening, and facing the many challenges of ranch life. She also enjoyed babysitting for neighbors. In later years, she and her husband traveled in their fifth wheel to South Texas for the winter. She was a member of the GLAD Club. She is survived by her husband, George S. Cook, of Goodrich, cousins, Helen Bernhardt of Wiggins, Tommy Thompson of Northglenn and Betty Crist of Weslaco, Texas, nephews, Robert and John Samples of Brush, Edward Cook, of Denver City, Texas and Jerry Johnson of Mobile AL, nieces, Gloria McBrayer, Janice Ford, Nancy Nixon, Jackie Middleton, Rosanne Odin and Jonette McConal, all of Denver City, Texas, Mary Foxx of Florida, Wilma Jones of Tulsa OK, and Frances Taylor of Lincoln NE. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother, Edward Hunter of Denver. Graveside memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on June 18, 2009 at Serenity Falls Columbarium in Fort Morgan. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary & Crematory in Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
