Thomas Emilio Covelli passed away at the age of 78 on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

Tom was born on April 29, 1943, in Fort Morgan, Colorado to Emilio and Cora Covelli. He and his younger sister, Diane, were raised by their parents on the family farm in Weldona. Tom was a lifelong resident of Morgan County, living primarily in Weldona. Tom raised two sons, Daniel (Corey) and Anthony (Shane), while married to Elisabeth for 25 years. With a loving relationship of 28 years, he and his partner Beverly Carter were always together in both work and play.

Tom graduated from Fort Morgan High School and subsequently started his career working in construction for the Dorn and Graff families. He took over the family farm after his father retired and later returned to construction and worked as a skilled carpenter. He ultimately retired as the Morgan County maintenance supervisor. He was also proud to serve his community through his volunteer work with the Fort Morgan Fire Department.

As a determined and hard worker to the end, Tom never stopped helping others, never missing the annual corn harvest for his buddies, the Neb brothers. He took care of everyone else yet never asked for anything in return. Being a handyman was his forte and he was constantly performing repairs on anything he noticed wasn't in good working order. He was always diligent about taking the time to learn new skills and technology.

Tom found his solace in mother nature and yearned to be outdoors. Once retired, he spent countless days camping, fishing, mushroom hunting, four-wheeling, tinkering in his shop and working in the yard.  He saved all year so he and Bev could take their camper to Tincup, Colorado, Ogalala, Nebraska and Albany, Wyoming and stay during most of the summertime. He always went with friends and family and was happiest in these heavens on earth.

He loved having fun with his family, friends, and his partner Beverly. Tom was a happy person and always had a smile on his face, yet his Italian heritage lent to the strongest of "opinions". He was known well by his community and was popular with a multitude of friends who adored his fun-loving personality. Tom was a patient father, delighting in all children, especially his own grandchildren, who could do no wrong; rarely missing an opportunity to attend their sporting events, activities, or music performances.  After his work and play was done, he enjoyed relaxing at home, reading, and watching old westerns. He often complained about the stray dogs that would show up, but eventually loved and even spoiled them all. If Little Guy could speak, he would attest to that…

So many people were affected by Tom's life. He always had a smile on his face that would light up a room. His life was an example of unconditional love, humility and a positive attitude. Tom will be forever missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio and Cora Covelli. His heavenly parents missed him dearly and he was called home exactly 45 years to the day of his father's passing.

He is survived by his loving partner, Beverly Carter; sister, Diane (Nick) Davey; sons, Shane (Jolyn) Covelli, and Corey (Ginger) Covelli; grandchildren, Brooklyn Covelli, namesake Tommy Covelli and Amber (Allen) Wiley; great grandson, Anthony Wiley, and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the United Methodist Church located at 117 E. Bijou Avenue in Fort Morgan, Colorado on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at 10:00 A.M. There will be a luncheon following the service at Just 1 More in Wiggins, Colorado.
