Obituary

Thomas Jerald Fife, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the Aspen Rehab Center in Ft. Morgan, Colorado where he had been recuperating following a hip fracture. He was born in Floral, Kansas to Jacob and Cecil (Rogers) Fife and lived in the Winfield area his entire life. He married Joan Wood in 1949. They were married for 30 years. In 1988 he married Claudine Keeler who died in December of 2013. Jerald moved to Colorado to be near his daughter. Jerald served his country in the US Army during WWII in the South Pacific as an aircraft mechanic. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He enjoyed doing things with his hands and solving problems himself. He was employed by Boeing Aircraft or 35 years. Jerald was a lifelong supporter of the Brittany spaniel and enjoyed field trials. He bred and trained bird dogs for many years which lead to friendships across the United States. In 2012 he was inducted into the Brittany Field Trial Hall of Fame in Tennessee. He was at home on horseback and rode into his later years. Survivors include his daughter, Cathy Kliewer of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, brother, Roger and his wife Natasha of Wichita, Kansas, step son, Joe Keeler and his wife Judi of Tonganoxie, Kansas, son in law, Gary Kliewer of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, two grandsons, Mark and his wife Rachel of London Ontario Canada, and Tim of Fort Collins, Colorado, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudine, brother, Irl, two young sisters, Margaret and Lois Eileen, and his parents. There will be a private Celebration of Life in Colorado and inurnment of cremains in Floral, Kansas at a later date.
