On February 19, 2024, Tom Everett Flores was 93 years old when he passed away peacefully in Brush, CO and joined the Lord and his loved ones in heaven.

Tom was born January 6, 1932, to Cecil and Annie (Everett) Flores, and raised in Benjamin TX. Tom was the youngest of his siblings: Benita, Cecil Jr, Ellis, Jose, Louis, Willie, and Anita. Tom and his family traveled doing seasonal agricultural work traveling to states such as Illinois, California, and Colorado when they were not residing in Texas. Tom was a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

It was the summer of 1950 in Colorado when Tom met Lupe Rocha at a dance. The story goes that Tom stole Lupe away from home when he and his brothers were packed and ready to return to Texas at the end of the summer season, and Lupe bribed her sisters with gifts of makeup to not wake their parents as she snuck out the window early morning to make the journey with Tom. The couple married in Benjamin Texas on October 5, 1950, and they had four daughters Annie (1951), Joann (1955), Debbie (1960), and Lisa (1962). The family moved to Colorado around 1952 and lived in Snyder, Hillrose, and eventually Brush. The family enjoyed yearly trips to Texas to visit family and summer trips to Lakeside and Mother Cabrini Shrine with KFC in hand to be enjoyed upon arrival.  Until death they did part when Lupe passed away in 1993 after 43 years of marriage. Tom eventually did remarry to Mary Lou Trujillo 1996-2021, and then spent the last of his years at Ebenezer Assisted Living. Tom was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic Church until the end of his years.

Tom was a hard worker and family man by nature. He was employed with Brush Hay and Milling, Sigman's, and Excel through the years in Morgan County. He was equally and unequivocally an avid baseball player from a young age in Texas and wherever they traveled, encouraged by his father to play on local teams. He played into his adulthood traveling throughout Colorado towns during summers with Lupe and the girls to play games in the fast pitch leagues and eventually moving on to softball. His golden moment was being awarded a gold medal at the 1998 Senior Olympic Games in Tucson AZ with his Crocodile teammates. In 2013 Tom was inducted into Greeley's Senior Activity Center Softball Hall of Fame.

Tom is survived by his daughter, Joann Cordova (Tony), sons-in-law, Jan Yoakum and Richard Rodriquez, 11 grandkids, 25 great grand kids, and two great-great grand kids. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Anita and Cecilio Flores; his wife, Lupe Flores; daughters, Debbie Gallivan (Bill), Lisa Yoakum, and Annie Rodriquez; grandson, Nathan Rodriquez, and his five brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be Monday, February 26th from 4 – 6 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00 PM.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at Saint Mary's Catholic Church, 340 Stanford St. in Brush on Tuesday, February 27th at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
