TY LEROY WHITTENBURG, 36, died Friday, September 7, 2012 in Fort Morgan. He was born December 2, 1975 in Fort Morgan to Lyle & Carolyn (Erickson) Whittenburg. Ty attended Fort Morgan Schools and graduated from Fort Morgan High School with the class of 1994. He lived in Salina, KS for a short time and later returned to Colorado, living in Wray, where he began his 16 year career in the oilfield industry. Ty then lived in Greeley before recently returning to Fort Morgan. Ty was an avid Denver Bronco's fan. Ty will be remembered as a hard worker, well liked by his oilfield coworkers in Wray. He had a fun and witty personality. He was a man with a big heart, especially adored by his nieces and nephews. Ty's family will forever cherish the deep love and admiration they hold for him. Survivors include his mother, Carolyn Sagel & her husband, Art of Fort Morgan; his father, Lyle Whittenburg of Haigler, NE; his son, Jordan Whittenburg of Salina, KS; and his siblings, Tim Whittenburg of Texas, Patty Wise & her boyfriend, Todd Lyon of Aurora, Dan Whittenburg & his wife, Maria of Fort Morgan, Erica Cargel & her husband, Eric of Tyler, TX, Mike Jacobs & his wife, Lenore of Florence, AZ, and Rodney Jacobs of Longmont. Ty is also survived by his grandmother, Ida Whittenburg of Yuma; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles; and his cherished friend, Stacey Deal of Rush, CO. Ty was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jimmie & Dolores Erickson and Roscoe Whittenburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 11th from 6 – 8 PM at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 12th, also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Memorial donations may be made to the Ty Whittenburg Memorial in care of Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, CO 80701, for his son, Jordan.
