Obituary

Una Mae Winstead, 99, longtime Brush resident, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2014, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Center. She was born in Kirkland, WA, on May 6, 1915, to Ethel and Rod Payne. She moved to Brush in 1927 and graduated from Brush High School in 1933. On August 17, 1941, Una Mae married Hurchell C. Winstead. Previous to and including early married years, she worked at J.C. Penney's. Later she worked for eight years at the Vogue Clothing Store for Lila Lary before retiring. Una Mae was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, volunteering for and chairing various committees and also serving on the Altar Guild for over 40 years. She also volunteered at Eben Ezer for more than 60 years and was an active member of the Eben Ezer Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and enjoyed painting and making a variety of crafts and needlepoint. Una Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Hurchell, her parents, and one sister. She is survived by several nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law. A memorial service to celebrate Una Mae's life will be held Thursday, October 16, at 10:30 AM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Inurnment will be in the Brush Memorial Cemetery with her husband. Those so desiring, can make memorial donations to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church or to the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.
