Valerie Ruppel 66, of Fort Morgan, passed away suddenly at her home on February 23, 2022. Valerie was born to David and Joyce Simpson on September 12, 1955 in Fort Morgan. She grew up on a ranch 20 miles south of Fort Morgan, where she attended the Shamrock Country School. Valerie moved into the Fort Morgan area to attend Fort Morgan High School, from which she graduated in 1973.
After graduating high school, Valerie began working at Farmers State Bank in Fort Morgan. She married her high school sweetheart, Herb Ruppel in 1976 and together they had two children, Michelle and Kurt. While raising her family, Val worked at Farmers State Bank until her retirement in 2009.
Valerie loved to travel, play games, shop, & spend time with her Sphynx cat, Harvey. Above all else, Val loved spending time with her kids and spoiling her six grandkids. She was a devoted grandma, who was happiest when she was picking someone up from school, babysitting, or attending their various activities. Val was a selfless, compassionate, and strong woman who defeated lymphoma in 2019.
She was a wonderful mother, sister and friend to many, especially on Facebook.
Valerie was preceded in death by her husband Herb Ruppel; and her parents, David and Joyce Simpson.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Bartels and her husband Brad of Fort Morgan; son, Kurt Ruppel and fiancée Tess Ostlund of Fort Morgan; Brother John Simpson and wife Patricia of Fort Morgan and sister; Connie McLeod of Greeley. Granddaughters, Keira Bartels, Presley Ruppel, Ava Ostlund, and Indie Horton. Grandsons; Keaton Bartels and Knox Ruppel.
She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Gene Doty Senior Center, 307 Linda Street in Fort Morgan on Saturday, March 12 th from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM. Join us for lunch and fellowship and please feel free to wear something purple in honor of Valerie.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Valeries name to Children Hospital Colorado Foundation, P.O. Box 5585 Denver CO 80217.
