Obituary

On April 14, 2014 the Lord peacefully took Vera Marie Cox, 87, into His loving arms. She was a life resident of the Fort Morgan community. She was born May 25, 1926, in Fort Morgan to Ralph & Maude Drew. Vera graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1945. She married Alfred Cox on March 5, 1947, in Fort Morgan. Vera was one of the cooks for many years at the Adena School and later for the Fort Morgan School District, working at the Columbine School and the Fort Morgan High School. She loved working at the school and still enjoyed many friendships made there. Vera was an active member of the United Presbyterian Church, having served as an elder; a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, a former member of the San Arroyo Club, and served as 4-H leader while children were growing up. Vera's greatest pastime was spent sewing clothes for everyone, making quilts, reading, and endless hours of baking and of course spoiling the grandkids & great grandkids. She loved to show them her talents in sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Survivors include her 4 children & their families; Susan Hergenreter & her husband Donald of Greeley; Ronald Cox of Berthoud; Kathy Lorenzini & her husband Larry of Weldona; and Colleen Gilliland & her husband Marshall of Wiggins; 1 brother Delbert Drew & his wife Betty; 9 grandchildren, Troy Hergenreter, Lori Hughes, Chad Lorenzini, Jennifer Cuckow, Andy Cox, Ryan Hergenreter, Mandy Keating, Jeremy Gilliland, and Randy Cox; 14 great grandchildred, Taylor Hughes, Riley Hughes, Baylee Hughes, Kaybre Keating, Kaytlyn Keating, Kyra Keating, Keian Keating, Americo Lorenzini, Tenleigh Lorenzini, Axel Lorenzini, Madison Cuckow, Hadley Cuckow, Drew Cox, Zachary Cox, and Breanne Gilliland. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred, 1 son, Danny; 2 brothers, Donald Drew & his wife Lorraine; and Lloyd Drew & his wife Alice; and her parents. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, April 25, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the United Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be in the Serenity Falls Columbarium in Riverside Cemetery. The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is entrusted with the funeral arrangements. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society.
