Verdie Leona Schocke 92 Longtime area resident, died Thursday, May 10, 2006 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. She was born November 30, 1914 in Edmond, Kansas to Allen and Alice (Gordon) Nevins. Verdie graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1933. She married Harold Schocke on January 21, 1934 in Ft. Morgan. Verdie was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ft. Morgan. She was also a member of AARP and the Elks. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, and gardening. Vertie loved her family and they were always her top priority in life. Survivors include one son, Darrell Schocke of Ft. Morgan, six grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Leona Yearous, one brother, Wayne Nevins and two grandchildren. Visitation will be Monday, May 14th from 5 until 7pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Ft. Morgan. Memorial Gifts may be made to either, Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado or to the Bee Hive Assisted Living Facility in Ft. Morgan. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
