Vergie Marie Yearous, 90, lifelong area resident, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Ft. Morgan. She was born February 11, 1919 in Sheridan, Missouri to Ernest and Velvia (Wilson) Cowen. Vergie married John Yearous on January 12, 1939 at the Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan. Mrs. Yearous was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan and taught Sunday School for a number of years. She was also a Blue Bird and Campfire Girls Leader. She enjoyed doing embroidery work, sewing, cooking, fly fishing, camping and traveling, especially to the mountains. She loved her family and they were very important to her. Survivors include two daughters, Maxine Geist and Marge Ferguson both of Ft. Morgan, five grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband John, two brothers, R.L. and Dale Cowen, and two sisters, Pauline Hunt and Marjorie Dix. Memorial Services will be Saturday, May 16, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Serenity Falls Columbarium. Memorial Gifts may be made to either the United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan or to the Eben-Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. The Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
