Verna J. Seeley, 89, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born January 17, 1925, in New Raymer to Genneive (Addington) & Wilbur Fiscus. Verna attended grade school in New Raymer for two years, then Clifton, CO, school thru grade 6. She graduated from Appleton High School as valedictorian in 1942. She was an active member of the school band and Glee Club. On June 20, 1942, Verna married Harold H. "Pete" Seeley, her grade and high school sweetheart, in Fruita, CO. The Seeley's lived in various military bases while Pete served in the US Army. When Pete was deployed overseas, Verna lived with her parents & brother. Their only son, Rodney Keith Seeley, was born March 17, 1947. The Seeley's lived in Sterling following Pete's honorable discharge from the military, living there from 1947 until 1968, where Pete was employed by Public Service Company of Colorado. Verna worked in the Logan County Treasurer's Office for 12 years. After moving to Brush in 1968, Verna worked for Sigman Meat Company and later the Wilhelm Feed Lot south of Fort Morgan. After retiring, the Seeley's traveled by motorhome for many years. Survivors include her brother, Virgil Fiscus of Loveland, CO; nieces & nephews, Ken Fiscus, Janet Kloberdanz, Pam Fiscus all of Sterling, CO; Cheryle Crawford & Mike Fiscus of Loveland; Rhonda Bumgardner of Grand Junction and Mickel Seeley of Indiana. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete; son, Rodney; her parents, aunts & uncles. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Heer Mortuary.
