Obituary

Vernon F. Finkner 86 Longtime area resident, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. Vernon was born March 13, 1921 in Arlington, Colorado to Arthur and Emma (Diehm) Finkner. In 1924 he moved to Pawnee City, Nebraska with his family where they farmed. He attended Barker Country District School through the 8th grade and attended high school in Pawnee City. Vernon served during WWII as a Sergeant in the Construction Engineers and spent three years serving in Europe. On January 2, 1954 he was married to Rita Murray in Beatrice, Nebraska. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Fort Morgan where he was employed by Buick- Chevrolet Sales and Service for many years. Vernon was a member of the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Ft. Morgan. He enjoyed camping trips to the mountains, playing softball and working in his shop. He is survived by his brother, Harold Finkner of Ft. Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, Roland Finkner. There will be a visitation on Monday, April 2, 2007 from 4 until 7 pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2007 at 10:30 am at the Immanuel Evangelical Church in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Arrangements by the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Ft. Morgan.
