Obituary

Vincente "Benny" Torrez, former Brush resident, took ill in Tucson due to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and had to retire and move to Chandler, Arizona. He passed away at Dobson House-Hospice of the Valley at 2:05 PM on November 21, 2009. May he rest in peace. He was born in Willard, New Mexico in 1928, to the late George and Teresita Torrez. He married Mercedes Martinez Torrez who died Oct. 13, 1972 in Brush, Colorado. Benny lived in Brush, Colorado all his working life. He worked at Livestock Exchange Inc. and on Bob Walker's ranch for 40 years. He retired and moved to Arizona in 2002 and worked for Sonoran Desert Nursery. He lived life large and had a big generous heart. He loved the Lord Jesus Christ and has now moved in with Him for eternity. He touched the hearts and lives of many people and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by three children, Maria R. Aranda and husband Robert A., John T. Torrez, and Sandra M. Catalan. all from Chandler, AZ. He has eight siblings, Margarito of Brush, George Torrez Jr. of Fredericktown, MO, Gilbert Torrez of Brush, Luciano Torrez of Fort Morgan, Lonnie Torrez of Albuquerque, NM, Polly Contreras, Eloisa Jimenez and Mary Franco, all Fort Morgan. He is survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service is being planned for Saturday, December 5, 2009, at the Heer & Dahl Chapel in Brush at 10:30 AM. Inurnment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. There will be refreshments following the service at the Moose Lodge, 2301 E. Edison St. in Brush.
