Violet Nevin,87, passed away Tuesday July 26th at the Madison Manor Nursing Home in Madison, Alabama. She was born near Gothenburg, Nebraska on August 22,1923 to Gunnar Carl Young and Hattie Elizabeth Larson Young. Violet was the youngest of four children and the twin of Viola Mae Young, with second oldest child, Verna Nadine Young and oldest Vernon William Young. She graduated from Brady High School in 1941 and went to Kearney Teachers College in Kearney, Nebraska. She taught at the Onion Creek School near Sutherland, Nebraska through the end of World War II and there met "Johnny" Nevin after the war. John Stewart Nevin and Violet Marie Young were married in Oberlin, Kansas on October 19,1946 and took up residence in Fort Morgan, Colorado. John established his trucking business there and they had their first child, Michael Jay Nevin, in 1947 at the Brush, Colorado hospital. In 1953 Mike was joined by their second son, Kevin Carl Nevin. They lived in Fort Morgan, Colorado and for about two years in Osceola and Ogallala, Nebraska, and then returned to Fort Morgan. She lived in Fort Morgan until 2003 when she moved to San Luis Obispo, California to live with her son, Mike and his wife, Candy. She also lived with them in Paso Robles, California; McLean, Virginia and Madison, Alabama. In 2008 she moved in to the Madison Manor Nursing Home in Madison, Alabama, where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her son Kevin Carl Nevin in 1991, her husband John in 1993, her twin sister Viola of Casper, Wyoming in 1997, her sister Verna of Brady, Nebraska in 1998 and brother Vernon in 1999. She is survived by her son Michael Jay Nevin and his wife Candy, her two grandsons, William Hugh Nevin II and his wife Alicia of Fairfield, Iowa; Gregory Stewart Nevin and his wife Janet of Buckeye, Arizona; and her three Great grandchildren, Junior Jessie, Ayden Elijah and one yet to be born in Buckeye, Arizona. She was a strong lady who held our family together through illnesses and difficult times, always with a calm manner and an attitude of "keeping peace at any price". We were blessed by her life and are joyful that she is with her Savior Jesus. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles, CA. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 2:00 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery.
