Virginia M. Moats, 78, affectionately known by fellow workers as "Mama Moats" or "Virgie", a Brush area resident since 1980, passed away Sunday, March 14, 2021, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.  She was born January 30, 1943, in Olney, IL to Lester & Anna Osborn.

Prior to retirement, Virginia worked as a med-certified CNA at Sunset Manor, pioneering the Alzheimer's Unit, for 34 years.    Virginia was sent to Texas by the owners of Sunset Manor to educate nurses about this disease.  There aren't many nurses in Morgan County today that didn't work with Virginia at some time during her career.  She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her children, Danny (Terri) Strange of Fort Morgan; Ron Lewis of Brush; Honey (Ron) Riter of Brush, Mindy (Steve) Albert of Brush; and Bill Wilson of Snyder; 1 sister Lucille  Eckelberry of Flora, IL; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by 5 brothers, 1 sister, her parents, and her fiance' Corky Skinner.

Funeral services will be at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at 10:30 AM.  Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the Heer Chapel on Tuesday, March 23 from 3 – 6 PM.
