Viva May Tuttle, 88, longtime Brush area resident, passed away Friday, February 6, 2009, at her residence at The Arbor at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, where she has lived for the past 3 years. She was born Febuary 2, 1921, in Shannon City, IA, to Rowland & Mildred Wilson. On March 9, 1945, Viva married Donald J. Tuttle in Shannon City, IA in her parents home. They were married for 60 years. They farmed in Iowa for the first five years of their marriage and then in 1950 the Tuttle family moved to farm south of Brush. They continued this farm and ranch operation for nearly 55 years. Viva was a member of a non-denominational church. Her church family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her church family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed cooking and gardening. The most important thing in Viva's life was her faith in the Gospel lived out according to Jesus. This is what gave her a joyful countenance in any situation. She welcomed the servants of God into her home beginning in 1956, and continuing until her death. Survivors include 2 children, Darwin, and his wife Edie, of Bonners Ferry, ID and Joyce Tuttle of Brush and Goodland, KS; 2 brothers, Duane Wilson of Creston, IA, and Wendell Wilson, and his wife, Lucille, of Afton, IA; 3 grandchildren , Andrew, Arnold, and Cristina, and 1 great granddaughter, one nephew, Steven Wilson and one niece, Sheila Brown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald in 2005, one brother, Lauren in 2007, and her parents. Funeral services will be at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be at the mortuary on Monday from 2 – 7 PM.
