Walter E. Longacre, 83, Life long Ft. Morgan area resident, died Wednesday morning at his daughters home in Log Lane Village. He was born December 15, 1925 in Ft. Morgan to Walter A. and Myrtle (Jones) Longacre. He married Lillian Wacker March 5, 1950 in Ft. Morgan. He farmed North of Ft. Morgan for 67 years, before he retired. He enjoyed driving around the farm checking the cattle, fixing fence and bailing hay. He also enjoyed building things from wood; tables, wishing wells, bird houses and benches were just a few of his favorites. Most of all he was a family man, his family was very important to him. He is a past President of the Farmers Union, he served the organization in the late 1960's. He is survived by his wife Lillian of Ft. Morgan, his children, Carol Conrad of Bear River, WY, Wally Longacre of Ft. Morgan, Willy Longacre of Loveland, and Betty Longacre, John Longacre and Donald Longacre all of Ft. Morgan, 2 sisters, Velma Luce of Ft. Morgan and Cleo Zarbock of Log Lane Village, 8 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by 1 brother Laurence, and his parents. A visitation will be held on Friday 2-5 pm at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Ft. Morgan. A Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 am at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary Chapel in Ft. Morgan. Interment will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the charity of their choice.
