Obituary

Wanda Mae Houghton, 77, longtime Brush area resident, died at her home Monday afternoon. She was born December 30, 1932 in Leoti, KS to Leslie and Helen Hahn. She moved to the Brush area in 1961. Being active in the community, she enjoyed helping people, and volunteering for the Red Cross and the Pregnancy Resource Center. She also enjoyed being involved in her church, taking care of animals, writing poetry, quilting, crocheting and reading. She was a member of the New Hope Community Church. She is survived by her daughters, Helen McCann and Deena Burns, both of Akron, Patti Northup of Greeley, Bonnie Shepherd of Stockbridge, Georgia, and Charlotte Stieb of Ft. Morgan; one son, Wesley Houghton of Brush; one sister, Ruth Johnson of Castle Rock; four brothers, James Hahn and Doug Hahn, both of Denver, Phillip Hahn of Mexico and Stanley Hahn of Merced, CA; 12 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Walter Houghton; one sister, Arlene Thompson; two brothers, Robert and Leonard Hahn and her parents. A funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 am at the New Hope Community Church in Brush. Interment will be held at a later date in the Brush Memorial Cemetery. Friends who wish may make memorial donations in Wanda's name care of the Heer & Dahl Mortuary, 222 Cameron St., Brush, CO 80723.
