Obituary

Warri Joan Scott was born on January 7, 1938 in Beloit Kansas to Jerry and Lila Neifert. She passed peacefully on September 9, 2022 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.

Warri attended school in Hillrose and was a band majorette and an active member of the 4-H Club before graduating from Hillrose High School in 1956. After graduation she followed in her mother's footsteps and earned her Bachelors Degree in Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Teaching was her passion and life's as she joyfully educated and encouraged several generations of Brush 2 nd graders for over 40 years. Teachers that she worked with remember her as a prankster that always kept them on their toes. She also served as Mayor of Hillrose during the 1990s.  Warri will always be remembered for her steadfast practice of her religious faith.

As a child, Warri developed a special adoration for animals and pets when her father brought home bear cubs and raccoons from his work as a state game and fish warden. That passion continued throughout her life with raising a myriad of horses, adopted pets and the occasional classroom creatures she brought home to care for during summers and long holidays.

Warri is preceded in death by her husband Clarence Scott. She is survived by her son Ronn Nixon of Denver, Colorado; daughter Karen Hammen and her husband Scott of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren Chase Hammen, Spencer Hammen and wife Amanda, Brady Hammen, Shelby Voth and husband Justin, Claire Price and husband Caleb; great grandsons Gavin, Asher, Maverick, Cooper and Colton; as well as her dear friends through many decades, Joyce Sperry and Joella Thompson Peterson.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday September 22 nd , 2022 at Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan followed by interment in Memory Gardens.
