Willa Bea Sack, or Bea as she was better known, passed away at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush, CO on August 1, 2024, the day of her 76th wedding anniversary.
She was born June 9,1926 in North Platte, Nebraska to Pearl Ray and Frances Stevens. The family moved to Des Moines, IA where Bea attended East High School and Drake University. She moved with her family to Lincoln, NE where she completed her education at the University of Nebraska and met Clayton Sack, her future husband. They were married on August 1, 1948. Her oldest son, Chuck, was born in Lincoln a year later.
After a few short stops in western Nebraska Bea and Clayton settled in Superior, NE for 16 years where Bea gave birth to their other three children. The family moved to Garnett, KS for 15 years before Clay and Bea settled in Akron, CO in 1981.
Bea spent most of her adult life as a piano teacher for many students. She also was an organist for the local church she and Clayton were involved with, as well as giving organ lessons. She often described her career as Mother first, then teacher, then homemaker. She was an active member of PEO and AAUW.
Bea is survived by their four children, Chuck (Sara) of Parsons, KS, Steve of Ft Collins, CO, Alan (Kathleen) of Fredericksburg, VA and Laurel of Rochester, NY. In addition, she is survived by three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush on Monday, August 19th at 1:00 pm.
