Obituary

William "Jim" Kammerer, 93, life resident of Morgan County, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan following a short illness. He was born September 25, 1919, in Weldona, CO, to William Jacob and Gertrude Kammerer. Jim graduated from Weldon Valley High School and started farming with his Father. On July 3, 1943, he married Margaret Caneva in Kimball, NE. Margaret died in 1965. In 1967 Jim married May Phyllis Covelli. She died in 1999. Jim was a member of St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. He was an avid reader and enjoyed reading newspapers. He loved to visit with people. His passion in life was farming. He enjoyed visiting the farm his son continues to farm and visiting with farming neighbors in the Weldon Valley community. Survivors include his children, Janet Doty of Fort Morgan and Bill Kammerer of Orchard; 1 sister Lucille Ochampaugh of Plainville, KS; 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchilodren. He was preceded in death by his two wives, 1 daughter, Kathy Alston; 2 grandsons, William Harold Kammerer and Chad Doty, and his parents. A graveside service will be held Friday, March 8, 2013, at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Boys Town c/o Heer Mortuary.
