Obituary

Wilma Gantenbein Childers, 90, died at her home early Sunday morning. She was born January 27, 1919 in Dillon, KS to Ulrich and Frieda Gantenbein. She attended rural schools and graduated from Kansas State University in 1943. She married Charles Childers in 1942. After World War II, they lived in Delaware, OK and Wilma taught in the public school in Lenapah, OK. for 6 years. In 1962, the family moved to Ft. Morgan. Wilma taught in the Ft. Morgan schools for 18 years and she retired in 1984. After retirement Wilma went on a short term mission to South East Asia. She was also privileged to travel in Europe, Israel, and to the Pacific Islands. Wilma was a member of the Life Fellowship Church and Dr. Mary Ann Lind's bible study. She was also a member of the Ft. Morgan Stretch Class, the University Club, the Red Hat Society, the Senior Bridge Group and the Friday Niner Coffee Klatch. Wilma enjoyed fun and fellowship, and like to ride her bike on pleasant days. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Josephine Rose and Jo Childers, 2 grandsons, John Caffey and wife Teran, and Joshua Caffey and wife Amanda and two great granddaughters Alexis, and Piper, Martha Narey is also included in her family. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at the Life Fellowship Church in Ft. Morgan. The service will conclude at the church. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Life Fellowship Church, 17723 County Rd 20, Ft. Morgan, CO 80701, or to the Hospice of the Plains, Inc., 100 Broadway, Suite 1A, Sterling, CO 80751.
