Wynona Faye Sims, 79, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2017, at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. She was born September 25, 1938 , in Colburn, CO to Jesse D. & Lillian L. (Sheldon) Harrison - their first born.
Wynona loved the mountains and being outdoors. At every opportunity, she would return to the mountains of her childhood home near Kremmling, CO.
Wynonoa attended Kremmling public schools through the 10th grade when the family moved to Brush. She learned to play the piano and trombone and was in an all school chorus. Music has always been a part of her life.
In 1956 Wynona, her Mother and sister, Billie Jean, were baptized into the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She then finished high school at Campton Academy near Loveland, CO graduating in 1958. At LaSierra College in Riverside, CA she met her future husband, Herschel Ray Sims. The following year they were married in the Fort Morgan Seventh - day Adventist Church.
Her family and church have always been very important to her. Wynona always enjoyed cooking and baking as well as sewing and crocheting. She could keep score for a bowling team while crocheting a fancy doily or scarf and never miss a stitch.
At church, Wynona was active with the Pathfinder Club, participating in all the various activities from baking to rock climbing, first aide to glass painting and camping as well as many other things in between.
After returning to Brush, Wynona was a live in caregiver for a few years. Every year at the Morgan County Fair her entries of fancy needlework, biscuits, and fudge won a variety of ribbons - most blue for her first place. Singing with Carl Stitt was always a joy!
Survivors include her 2 sons, Tony (Kathy) Sims of Cleveland, TN and Chris Sims of Chattanooga, TN; her Mother, Lillian Harrison of Brush; 4 siblings, Billie Jean (Mel) Walgren of Clear Lake, SD, Sue (George) Pratt of Arvada, CO; Gary (Barb) Harrison of Brush, CO and Michael Harrison of Fairbanks, AK; a special friend, Carl Stitt of Brush; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, H. Ray Sims; an infant brother, Dean Harrison; her Father, Jesse D. Harrison; and her Father & Mother in law, Hershel & Eloise Sims;
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 20, 2017, at 1:00 PM at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 6th ^ Meeker Streets in Fort Morgan.Visits: 0
